Essiac tea is a gentle, healing mix for many health issues. It is supportive in the treatment of cancer, arthritis, gout, liver disorders, ulcers, bowel disorders and irritated skin conditions. The four herbs in Essiac work together to rid the body of toxins, heavy metals and to boost the immune system.
The four herbs in the Essiac mix are Sheep's sorrel, Burdock root, Slippery elm and Rhubarb root. The blend was originally formulated by a traditional healer from the Ojibwa tribe in Canada many years ago and handed down to a Canadian nurse named Rene Casse. She used the formula with historical success in the management and treatment of cancer for many years. The four herbs are decocted (or simmered) in spring water, allowed to stand for 12 hours, then strained and bottled in a sterile environment. The tea can be taken on a daily basis in times of illness or when the body is coping with stress.
Our Essiac tea is made fresh to order. This means you get the best possible benefits from it. It comes in 500ml glass bottles and once opened it stays fresh in the fridge for 2 to 3 weeks. It lasts for months if kept unopened in the fridge, so ordering 2 bottles can save on postage and a 13% discount. Allow 3 days for your order to arrive.
The four herbs in Essiac Tea and how they work
Sheep Sorrel:
Sorrel plants have been a folk remedy for cancer for centuries both in Europe and America. Sheep Sorrel has been observed by researchers to break down tumors, and alleviate some chronic conditions and degenerative diseases. It contains high amounts of vitamins A and B complex, C, D, E, K, P and vitamin U. It is also rich in minerals, including calcium, chlorine, iron, magnesium, silicon, sodium, sulphur, and has trace amounts of copper, iodine, manganese and zinc. The combination of these vitamins and minerals nourishes all of the glands of the body. Sheep Sorrel also contains carotenoids and chlorophyll. Chlorophyll carries oxygen throughout the bloodstream. Diseased cells do not live in the presence of oxygen. Sorrel also has citric, malic, oxalic, tannic and tartaric acids.
Sorrel relieves inflammation by cleansing and strengthening the system. It breaks down tissue masses and other deposits that are foreign to the body.
It also reduces the damage of radiation burns and increases resistance to X-rays.
It aids in the removal of foreign deposits from the walls of the blood vessels and purifies the liver, stimulates the growth of new tissue, reduces inflammation of the pancreas, raises the oxygen level of the tissue cells.
Burdock Root
This root is a staple of Japanese and nutritive macrobiotic diets; an antioxidant & anti-mutagen. Used as a mild diuretic and for treating swelling and fever. The root of Burdock is a powerful blood purifier. It clears congestion in respiratory, lymphatic, urinary and circulatory systems. It promotes the flow of bile, and eliminates excess fluid in the body. It stimulates the elimination of toxic wastes, relieves liver malfunctions, and improves digestion. The Chinese use Burdock Root as an aphrodisiac, tonic, and rejuvenator. It assists in removing infection from the urinary tract, the liver, and the gallbladder. It expels toxins through the skin and urine. It is good against arthritis and rheumatism.
Burdock Root contains vitamins A, B complex, C, E, and P. It contains high amounts of chromium, cobalt, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, silicon, and zinc, and lesser amounts of calcium, copper, manganese, and selenium. Much of the Burdock Roots curative power is attributed to its principal ingredient of Inulin, which helps to strengthen vital organs, especially the liver, pancreas, and spleen.
Slippery Elm
Slippery Elm Bark is widely known throughout the world as a herbal remedy. As a tonic it is known for its ability to sooth and strengthen the organs, tissues, and mucous membranes, especially the lungs and stomach. It promotes fast healing of cuts, burns, ulcers and wounds. It revitalizes the entire body.
It contains, as its primary ingredient, mucilage, as well as quantities of garlic acid, phenols, starches, sugars, vitamins A, B complex, C, K, and P. It contains large amounts of calcium, magnesium, and sodium, as well as lesser amounts of chromium and selenium, and trace amounts of iron, phosphorous, silicon and zinc.
Slippery Elm Bark is known among herbalists for its ability to cleanse, and strengthen the body.
Rhubarb Root:
Rhubarb, also a well known herb, has been used worldwide since 220 BC as a medicine.
The Rhubarb root exerts a gentle laxative action by stimulating the secretion of bile into the intestines. It also stimulates the gall duct to expel toxic waste matter, thus purging the body of waste bile and food. As a result, the liver is cleansed, and chronic liver problems are relieved.
Rhubarb root contains vitamin A, many of the B complex, C, and P. Its high mineral content includes calcium, chlorine, copper, iodine, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, silicon, sodium, sulfur, and zinc.

Balms are made with plant oils that sit with whole organic and wildcrafted herbs for weeks and sometimes for months. The herbs slowly and gently release their beautiful, wholesome goodness into the oils. The extracted oils go on to make balms which are full of life and vibrancy. I use raw local beeswax which is unrefined and has a glorious scent. Balms can be made to order with vegan wax also. Get in contact if you prefer vegan wax.
Bio green emulsifiers and beeswax are used as thickeners. Aspen Bark extract is used as a preservative in the creams. This is a powerful skin friendly, natural extract that keeps the cream fresh and stable. They will stay fresh and vibrant for at least one year after opening. Store in a cool dry place.
Creams and balms are made in small batches to retain freshness. They are stored in glass jars that can be recycled again. If you wish to return your jar you will get €1 off the cost of your refill.
Creams and balms are sold at an affordable price to ensure that all can avail of these treasures.
You will never tire of these products.
My name is Annie Dillon and I make your products. I have worked as a herbalist for almost 40 years. I have been growing organic herbs for many years and use these herbs in the products I formulate. I also use ethically wildcrafted herbs in my products and feel that the life force in plants that are used as a whole and have not been adulterated in any way are the best foods for our skin.
I became interested in skin care more than twenty five years ago. While researching skin care products, I found that many skin creams were loaded with toxic preservatives, emulsifiers, stabilisers and perfumes.
I set about creating organic, clean products that are non-toxic and close to nature. I sourced skin friendly, natural preservatives and emulsifying products that would enhance the skin rather than send toxins into the bloodstream.
I make balms and salves for Dr Clare's Apothecary here in Galway. I worked for many years in Dr Clare's Clinic and Apothecary. It was a place where I could really embrace my love of herbs and all things herbal.
I also craft medicinal balms, soaps, herbal teas, syrups and mother and baby products.
I can put together gift boxes to suit an order.
